Quotes Challenge- Day 2

For Day 2 , I chose this quote by Stephen King.

I studied this book “On Writing” a few years ago. From my experience, I have trouble editing my writing and taking out the un-necessary stuff that interferes with the flow of the story. Especially if it’s something I worked so hard on so Stephen King’s book was really helpful in that matter.

I’m highlighting this quote because it’s a reminder for me to edit and re-write even if it’s a piece of writing that I love, after killing my darlings the result is much better.

Let me add that sometimes the things I kill from my writing return more powerful into a  scene that fit them perfectly. Other times they’re gone for good and that’s okay as long as you keep trying to get it right.

I want everyone to participate so I’d like to start a discussion in the comments below about your favorite quotes. Looking forward to read your quotes. 😀

I really like this quote a lot, mainly because it reminds me to try looking in a different way when I am unable to see beauty in something. Sadly I have yet to find the point of view where I can acknowledge myself as such. At least I am trying I guess.

    1. Nice quote 😀
I’m sure you have it , maybe something else is blocking the way? Or you’re looking too hard? Once you find that kind of beauty everything else just fades away.
      Thanks for sharing 😀

“Good books don’t give up all their secrets at once.”
    ~Stephen King~

I like this quote because just like yours it’s telling people you can’t put everything you like in one basket no matter how much you want to. Kill your darlings, getting rid of your favorites even though you feel they define you, sometimes you have to sacrifice some things to get other things in the future. You can’t have all your favorites on one pizza. And it’s just like life, we have to make sacrifices and sometimes lose a little of ourselves to discover a bigger part of ourselves.
