She strived for perfection, but it all crumbled to pieces because loss was messy and un-predictable. She strived to keep her emotions in check, for the perfect smile and the perfect stories to tell. But underneath that smile, she knew there was a lot of hidden grief, which needed to be released. Some tears needed to be shed. Some memories needed to be recognized, which she thought was mostly un-fair.
As she looked around everyone was moving forward and she felt she was moving in the opposite direction. If she needed to move on why was her heart still somewhere in the past? With one gaze at her reflection, she noticed the barrier she had created…A barrier that kept her from realizing she was human after all. With that one realization a sentence formed in the reflection and it read , “One step at a time.”

Any movement is positive movement in today’s day and age, just don’t be idle. One can rebound from going backwards but being stuck really mean going nowhere fast. One step.
