While sitting in the sunshine and enjoying the outdoors,
Chatters float from all around me and I wish they’re pleasant.
“Oh look what this girl is wearing?”
“Eww… what was she thinking?”
Meanwhile, the girl’s eyes stare at the floor as she shamefully passes by.
All it takes is a second, one word to affect someone,
Why should they care about their words if she was just passing by?
I wish they knew….All it takes is a moment for her to rethink her decision.
It takes one word to make her scan her reflection in that store,
And return everything she had bought that day.
Will they ever realize how much they hurt someone?
How that one word changed her perspective?
And made her sit at home for the rest of the day?
They’ll never know the heaviness she felt and the shame from the things she heard.
Until one day, when they’re walking down the street,
And all they hear is whispers from all around.
The kind of chattering that glues their eyes to the pavement,
Because all it takes is one word to make them shamefully scan their reflection in the store.
